V1 Signal Pings and Installed-App Phone Alerts

How Beeprd V1 signal notifications work: in-app pings first, sender identity and photos where available, optional Web Push for installed Beeprd mobile web users, and no signal email blasts by default.

V1 Signal Pings and Installed-App Phone Alerts

Beeprd V1 is built to keep signal delivery useful without creating runaway email cost.

What V1 does

When you subscribe to another Beeprd profile, you can choose the kinds of signals you want.

When that profile posts a matching automatic signal or sends an intentional broadcast, Beeprd creates an in-app ping for you.

Examples:

  • `BEEP: Khage posted a new YouTube video`
  • `BEEP: A founder you follow sent a product launch signal`

Subscriber and regular update alerts

Beeprd separates notification controls so you can choose what pings you want:

  • **New subscriber pings** alert you when someone joins your signal network.
  • **Regular update pings** control automatic signal-update notifications from profiles you follow.
  • **Broadcast alerts** control direct broadcast notifications from profiles you follow.

You can change these anytime in Settings -> Notifications.

Optional phone alerts in V1

Beeprd also supports Web Push for installed Beeprd mobile web/PWA users.

To use it:

1. Sign in to Beeprd on your phone.

2. Install Beeprd to your home screen.

3. Open Beeprd from the installed icon.

4. Go to Settings -> Notifications.

5. Enable Installed-app Web Push.

6. Allow notifications when your phone asks.

Important: in-app notifications are always the baseline. Phone alerts are optional and depend on browser/device support and permission.

Who sent the signal?

Signal pings identify the sending profile when Beeprd has that information.

For direct broadcasts and automatic signals, you may see copy like `Signal from Khage` or `Signal from the founder you follow`.

When the sender has a public profile photo, Beeprd may use that photo as the phone-alert icon so you can recognize who the signal came from quickly.

The Beeprd logo remains the notification badge and fallback icon. Some devices, especially iOS installed web apps, may still show the Beeprd app icon because the operating system controls final notification rendering.

iPhone note

On iPhone, Web Push works for installed web apps added to the Home Screen. It does not behave like a normal Safari tab notification.

Android note

Android browsers generally support Web Push more directly, but the user still has to grant permission.

Email cost control

Beeprd does not use Resend to blast every signal email in V1.

Resend remains for account, billing, support, and future digest-style email where appropriate.

Large-scale email signal delivery belongs to Enterprise/V3 because it can be priced by usage and governed with delivery rules.

If you are not receiving phone alerts

Check:

  • Beeprd is installed to your home screen.
  • Notifications are allowed for Beeprd.
  • You are subscribed to that signal category.
  • The followed profile actually sent or generated a matching signal.
  • Quiet hours or cadence settings are not preventing realtime delivery.

You can still open Beeprd -> Notifications to see your in-app pings.
